Lionsgate has closed a deal with writer-director Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Night Before) and his new Megamix production company to begin development on a TV adaptation of his 2013 zombie rom-com Warm Bodies, THR has revealed.
Based on Isaac Marion’s novel of the same name, Warm Bodies explored the unlikely romantic relationship between Julie (Teresa Palmer) and a zombie called R (Nicholas Hoult). The film, which also starred Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and John Malkovich, proved to be a success at the box office, grossing $117 million worldwide from a budget of $35 million.
The Warm Bodies TV series is being developed as part of a first-look deal between Lionsgate and Megamix, which Levine is running with former Lionsgate and Fox 2000 executive Gillian Bohre (La La Land, Twilight).
