Variety is reporting that Michael Bay has signed on to direct his next project following the upcoming Six Underground, with the filmmaker set to tackle Black 5 for Sony.
Black 5 is an action feature based on an original idea from Bay, who will produce alongside 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’s Erwin Stoff, while Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Age of Extinction) is penning the script. Specific plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is apparently being simultaneously developed as a video game.
Bay is currently working on the Ryan Reynolds-headlined Six Underground for Netflix, and is looking to begin production on Black 5 early in 2020. The film will mark a reunion for Bay with Sony Pictures, where he directed his feature debut Bad Boys and its 2003 sequel Bad Boys II.
