A former Bond is now turning in his suit for one of DC’s most iconic helmets as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the story that Pierce Brosnan will take up the mantle of Dr. Fate in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
As per THR, Brosnan will play Kent Nelson, a son of an archeologist who was taught sorcery skills and given the magical Helmet of Fate. From here, he’ll become Dr. Fate, a powerful and legendary sorcerer. He’ll join the heroic line-up that includes Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.
Black Adam marks the second collaboration between New Line and DC film, following the modest success of 2019 Shazam. Another legendary actor has been cast in this shared universe between Shazam and Black Adam, with Dame Helen Mirren joining the latter in a villainous role.
This marks Brosnan’s first time in a superhero film.
The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra will helm the project, reuniting him with his Jungle Cruise star Johnson, alongside Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest), Aldis Hodge (One Night in Miami), Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers), Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), and Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin).
Black Adam is currently scheduled for release on July 29th 2022.
