Freddie Prinze Jr. says he is not attached to new I Know What You Did Last Summer

March 14, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Recently, the horror community began to buzz about a potential new I Know What You Did Last Summer. The reports claimed that original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. would return.

While the project is still developing and things could change, one of those actors seems to know nothing about starring in any new I Know What You Did Last Summer movies.

Speaking to TooFab, Prinze Jr. tells the outlet that he hasn’t heard anything read the script and has only spoken to the film’s director.

“I have been offered nothing, nothing,” the actor clarifies. “They just said that to get people excited. I haven’t spoken to anyone at their company; my agents haven’t received an offer from them whatsoever.”

He adds, “I had a conversation with the director a few days after they announced that just to be like, ‘Yo, what the hell? Why are they saying I’m going to be in a movie that I’m probably not going to be in?’ And she said, ‘Let me pitch you the idea.’ So she’s spoken to me about the idea, but I haven’t said yes, I haven’t received an offer.”

Prinze Jr. continues, “I have no reason to lie to anyone; I have no skin in the game. I’m only gonna do things that I like and work with people that I like, and there’s not gonna be any wiggle room this time around. I messed up the first time around; this time, I just want to do stuff I’m passionate about. So yeah. I haven’t read a script.”

In February, it was reported Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) would direct the new I Know What You Did Last Summer requel for Sony Pictures. The project is still developing at the time of writing, though the original stars are seemingly not attached just yet.
