Carrie Fisher responds to the “Slave Leia toy” controversy

Last week, a news story on Fox News broke out about a parent who was upset about Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Figure series toy of Princess Leia from Return of the Jedi in her “Slave Leia” outfit. The story was picked up on several news outlets, which has now prompted Leia herself Carrie Fisher to giver her thoughts on the matter.

Taking to Twitter, Fisher didn’t understand why the outfit has caused controversy now when it didn’t “40 years ago” and that while she did have a chain round her neck, she used it to kill the creature than enslaved her.

Carrie Fisher heads back to the Star Wars Universe in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set for release on December 18th and sees J.J.
