Madchen Amick and Marisol Nichols joins The CW’s Archie pilot Riverdale

March 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The CW’s upcoming live-action Archie pilot Riverdale has added another two names to its cast, Deadline has revealed.

Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks) is set to play Betty Cooper’s mother Alice, the “editor of the local paper, described as a steely perfectionist who places exceedingly high expectations on her daughter.”

Meanwhile, Marisol Nichols (Teen Wolf) has been cast as Veronica Lodge’s mother Hermione, who “has now returned to Riverdale, eager to start afresh with her daughter following the scandalous incarceration of her husband.”

Riverdale offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

K.J. Apa (Shortland Street) is set to play Archie in the pilot, with Lili Reinhart (Surviving Jack) as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse (The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody) as Jughead, Ashleigh Murray (The Following) as Josie McCoy, Madelaine Petsch (The Curse of Sleeping Beauty) as Cheryl Blossom, Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks) as Alice Cooper, Marisol Nichols (Teen Wolf) as Hermione Lodge and Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Fred Andrews.
