Krampus screenwriters enlisted for Godzilla 2

October 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Legendary Pictures has enlisted Krampus screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields to pen the script for the sequel to its 2014 reboot of Godzilla, while there is also talk that Dougherty may be in line to direct.

The site goes on to state that the appointment of Dougherty and Shields could also be the beginning of a possible writers room for Legendary and Warner Bros.’ planned shared universe for Godzilla and King Kong, with the two iconic monsters scheduled to clash in 2020.

Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards was originally attached to return for the sequel, but left in order to direct Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Legendary has Kong: Skull Island set for release on March 10th, 2017, with Godzilla 2 following on March 22nd, 2019, and Godzilla vs. Kong planned for May 29th 2020.
