Ahsoka Tano returning to Star Wars Rebels, Captain Rex/Return of the Jedi fan theory seemingly confirmed

April 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo took to the stage at Star Wars Celebration yesterday for the Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates panel, during which they dropped a couple of pieces of news that will be of interest to fans of Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex.

As he did during last year’s Celebration, Filoni confirmed that Ahsoka is set to make her return to Star Wars Rebels, revealing that while he initially planned for her showdown with Darth Vader in the season two finale to be her last appearance, fan reaction towards the character ultimately changed her mind. However, the production time required for Rebels meant that by that point, it was impossible to include her in the third season.

Meanwhile, Filoni also showcased a piece of concept art from the fourth season featuring Captain Rex, which seemingly confirms a popular theory about the Clone Trooper being part of Han Solo’s strike team in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi:

So, is this confirmation that Captain Rex has been retconned into Return of the Jedi, or is Filoni just having a little fun with the theory?
