According to Variety, Jerrick Media and Maven Pictures are teaming up to bring the life of Penthouse founder Bob Guccione to the small screen and are currently interviewing writers for a TV drama.
The site reports that the potential series will be told through the eyes of the various women in Guccione’s life and explore his rise from struggling artist and cartoonist to the top of the media landscape and his subsequent fall into financial ruin and bankruptcy.
“Bob Guccione was more of an intellectual,” said producer Rick Schwartz, co-founder of Jerrick Media. “He was a complicated guy. It’s a meaty story. The plan is to do it on cable, Amazon, Netflix or somewhere where we can do it uncensored.”
