UPDATE: 13 Reasons Why adds eleven new actors to season 2 cast

August 9, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Seven new actors have been cast in the second season of 13 Reasons Why.

The teen drama adaptation was a big hit for Netflix when it debuted earlier this year, capturing imaginations with its tale of a young girl who, after committing suicide, leaves tapes to her friends explaining who was responsible for her death.

While the show seemed to have come to a natural ending, the powers at be have decided to bring it back for a second season, now beefing up the cast with seven new additions.

Anne Winters, Bryce Cass, Chelsea Alden, Allison Miller, Samantha Logan, Kelli O’Hara, and Ben Lawson have all joined the second season which is currently in production. None of the new members are regulars but many will be appearing in the majority of the season’s episodes.

The new cast members will be performing a variety of roles, such as new students and more mature characters. For example, Anne Winters will be playing Chloe, the new ‘it girl’ and head cheerleader of Liberty High.

UPDATE: Deadline is also reporting that Jake Weber (Medium), Brenda Strong (Supergirl), Meredith Monroe (Criminal Minds) and R.J. Brown (The Carrie Diaries) have also signed on for recurring roles.

It will certainly be interesting to see how these new characters fit into the show’s make up and just how Netflix are planning to extend this seemingly finite story.
