Bruce Boxleitner to replace Brent Spiner as Supergirl’s Vice President

August 22, 2018 by Ricky Church

A couple weeks ago it was reported that Star Trek: The Next Generation alum Brent Spiner would be joining The CW’s Supergirl as the Vice President of the United States. However, that is no longer the case as Tron and Babylon 5 star Bruce Boxleitner is set to replace Spiner on the upcoming season.

According to TVLine, Spiner had to step down from the role due to family issues that conflicted with production. Boxleitner was then cast in his place as Vice President Baker. VP Baker is described as “adept and politically minded” and “an unlikely leader who will nonetheless step up in a big way when his country needs him”. Former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter portrayed the President Olivia Marsdin during Supergirl‘s second season, though it is unknown if Carter will return again for the fourth.

Among the newest cast members to join the series with Spiner are Sam Witwer as Agent Libert, Nicole Maines as Dreamer, David Ajala as Manchester Black, Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves and Robert Baker as her brother Otis. Meanwhile, original series regular Jeremy Jordan, who portrays Winn, will be a recurring star rather than regular while Jesse Rath (Brainiac 5) is becoming a regular for the new season.
