Lena Headey “gutted” Cersei didn’t get a better death in Game of Thrones

June 20, 2019 by Gary Collinson

While fans and critics have been very vocal about their disappointment with the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, the cast and crew of the show have been much more reserved when it comes to sharing their thoughts on the ending of the HBO fantasy series.

However, speaking to The Guardian, actress Lena Headey has admitted that she was “kind of gutted” that her character Cersei Lannister didn’t receive a better death (for the uninitiated, she was crushed to death beneath the falling Red Keep in the arms of her brother and lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

“I will say I wanted a better death”, said Headey. “Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”
