As Marvel preps its fourth phase of the MCU, Variety is reporting that Stranger Things and Godzilla: King of the Monsters actress Millie Bobby Brown is the latest star to join the cast of The Eternals.
The Eternals is being directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider) and sees Brown joining the previously announced Angelina Jolie (Maleficent), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Richard Madden (Bodyguard), Ma Dong-seok (Train to Busan) and Salma Hayek (The Hitman’s Bodyguard). Brown’s role is being kept under wraps, but Jolie is said to play the Eternal Sersi while Madden will be her lover Ikaris.
Based upon characters created by the legendary Jack Kirby, The Eternals follows “super-powered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals and a more monstrous off-shoot known as the Deviants that were created by cosmic beings known as Celestials.” A big part of the narrative will reportedly revolve around “the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.”

UPDATE: The Stranger Things actress has now posted an Instagram video playing down the report and stating that she has “no idea” whether she’s going to be in The Eternals: “Everybody thinks I’m going to be in a Marvel movie. Not that I know of. My family and I have no idea. So I just want to let everyone know…that I’m not as of right now.”
Marvel Studios will be holding a panel at San Diego Comic-Con next weekend, which will hopefully reveal more about The Eternals as well as other Phase Four projects such as the currently-in-production Black Widow prequel which is shooting now with Scarlett Johansson reprising her role as the super spy.
