Hailee Steinfeld offered Kate Bishop role in Marvel’s Hawkeye

September 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Having secured a showrunner last week in Mad Men writer and story editor Jonathan Igla, it seems that Marvel Studios may now have identified its Kate Bishop for the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

According to Variety, The Edge of Seventeen and Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the role of Clint Barton’s (Jeremy Renner) protege, who – in the comic books – succeeds Clint as Hawkeye, and goes on to become a member of the Young Avengers.

Should Steinfeld sign on to play Kate Bishop, Hawkeye would become the Oscar-nominated actress’ second starring TV role after the upcoming Apple TV+ comedy Dickinson [watch the trailer here].

Hawkeye is one of several live-action Disney+ series in the pipeline as part of Marvel’s Phase Four alongside The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. At D23, it was also announced that Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight shows are also in the works.
