Exclusive Interview with film producer Ekaterina Behor

May 20, 2022 by admin

In an exclusive interview, Flickering Myth sat down with Ekaterina Behor to talk about her award-winning movie Invincible and making her directorial debut.

Welcome to Flickering Myth! Tell us a little bit about life before living in Los Angeles.

Before Los Angeles, I lived in Moscow, but I like traveling, that’s why I have spent a lot of time in Europe and Asia getting inspired by different cultures, people, and their stories. I started writing scripts and working towards filmmaking. I worked in various fields. Later I realized that I wanted to focus on making media content, film, and videos. I produced and marketed commercials back in Russia.

Your music project Invincible has been a film festival favorite in over 30 international festivals to date. Tell us about the film?

Yes, the video Invincible is important to me because I did both – producing and directing. It was a passion project that was very personal to me. I knew that it would be successful at festivals.

Invincible is the story about a girl who is full of fear and that feat, that doesn’t allow her to pursue her goal. But when she becomes brave and looks into the eyes of her fear – her life changes.

What inspired you to direct and produce this project?

My friend sent me a music piece by Mike Hall. I contacted the composer and asked if I could use his music for my next project. The music piece inspired me to shoot the video. It is not the only time when I have been inspired by music. I know many directors and producers are inspired by movies, but for me it is different. I get ideas and inspiration from music, painting, or real life stories from people.

Where did you film?

We shot the project in Los Angeles. We only needed two locations. An empty beach and a deep pool for the underwater scene. Los Angeles was the perfect place for it.

What did you find most challenging about making Invincible?

This project wasn’t stressful because we were very prepared. All our shots were exterior. The weather changed on the last shoot day, and it was cold in the pool during the night. But we made it!

Would you change anything about Invincible?

No, I am happy with the look of the projects, and I like the way Invincible is right now: frame, VFX, colors, aesthetics. I would not change anything.

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us. One last thing, how can people find you?

People can follow my work on IMDb, or me on Instagram.
