Netflix shuts down Space Force after two seasons

May 2, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Greg Daniels and Steve Carell’s workplace comedy Space Force has been shut down, with Netflix cancelling the show after two seasons.

The news comes a couple of months on from the arrival of the second season, which was met with a positive critical reception but struggled to make an impact in the Nielsen streaming charts. As with the recently-cancelled Raising Dion, which ranked higher than Space Force in the charts for Netflix, the show’s cost has ultimately proved to expensive for the streamer given the level of viewership.

Created by The Office duo of Daniels and Carell, Space Force sees the latter as General Mark R. Naird, the first Chief of Space Operations for the United States Space Force, the newly-established sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces.

Along with Carell, the cast of Space Force includes John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Lisa Kudrow, Tawny Newsome, Don Lake and Jimmy O. Yang.
