Step aside Dumbo as Netflix drops The Magician’s Elephant trailer

February 17, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

When it comes to animation Netflix are coming off the back of a stellar year with the one-two of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio and the most-viewed animated movie of all time on the streaming service, The Sea Beast.

Now they’re hoping to pick up where they left off with The Magician’s Elephant, an adaptation of the two-time Newbery Award winning author Kate DiCamillo’s classic novel.

The Magician’s Elephant tells the story of Peter (voiced by Noah Jupe), a boy who is looking for his long-lost sister and comes upon a fortune-teller who advises him to find the titular elephant, which miraculously appears following a trick at a magic show, prompting the boy to follow the pachyderm wherever it goes in order to try and find his sister. Also featuring the vocal talent of Benedict Wong, Sian Clifford, Pixie Davies and Brian Tyree Henry, you can check out the trailer below…

Peter is searching for his long-lost sister, and when he crosses paths with a fortune teller in the market square there is only one question on his mind: is his sister still alive? The answer – that he must find a mysterious elephant and the magician who will conjure it – sets Peter off on a harrowing journey to complete three seemingly impossible tasks that will change the face of his town forever, and take him on the adventure of a lifetime.

The Magician’s Elephant streams only on Netflix from March 17, 2023.
