Exclusive Interview – Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars author Sam Maggs

March 16, 2023 by Ricky Church

Ricky Church talks Star Wars with Sam Maggs, author of the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor prequel novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars…

With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor set for release at the end of April, fans can get a look at what Cal Kestis and the crew of the Stinger Mantis have been up to since the conclusion of Jedi: Fallen Order in the lead-in novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, written by author, video game and comics writer Sam Maggs.

Maggs has had an extensive career in writing, primarily writing for video games such as Call of Duty: Vanguard, Anthem and the Spider-Man DLC The City That Never Sleeps. On the comics front, she has written Captain Marvel, IDW’s Transformers/My Little Pony crossover and a graphic novel adaptation of Fangirl. She has been a huge fan of the galaxy far, far away nearly all her life which, coupled with her love of and experience in video games, made Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars an exciting project to work on.

Our discussion touched on adapting the setting of Jedi to a novel, capturing the perspectives of each character and Maggs’ experience writing in such vastly different genres. Watch the interview below, and be sure to head on over to our YouTube channel to leave your thoughts in the comments, and to check out more exclusive video content…

Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars is available on bookshelves now. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Microsoft on April 28th.
