Melissa Benoist joins Masters of the Universe: Revolution as Teela

March 9, 2023 by Ricky Church

From Supergirl to Masters of the Universe, Melissa Benoist has revealed she has joined Netflix and Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revolution, a sequel to Masters of the Universe: Revelation. She will star as the voice of Teela, who was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the first series.

Benoist has worked with Kevin Smith before as he directed several episodes of Supergirl. She will also star alongside her Supergirl co-star and husband Chris Wood as he reprises He-Man in Revolution.

“I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend, Kevin Smith and join the Revolution family as another bold and fearless heroine. I look forward to sharing the next evolution of Teela’s story with fans,” Benoist said.

Mattel also revealed the synopsis for Masters of the Universe: Revolution, which reads reads:

Revolution is an all-new story that focuses on the classic He-Man vs. Skeletor rivalry in a way audiences have never seen before. It’s technology up against magic as He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and a deadly threat to the Planet in the next epic chapter in the battle for Eternia.

Joining Wood and Benoist in Masters of the Universe: Revolution is Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill reprising the role of Skeletor and Star Trek‘s William Shatner in a still-to-be announced role. It has yet to be announced if any other cast members from Revelation will return for the new series.

Kevin Smith and Ted Biaselli will executive produce alongside Mattel’s Fred Soulie, Rob David and Christopher Keenan. Masters of the Universe: Revolution will premiere on Netflix in 2024.
