Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Michael Fassbender and Owen Wilson set for Nancy Meyers Netflix rom-com

March 7, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

With What Women Want and Something’s Gotta Give on her impressive resume, it comes as little surprise that rom-com legend Nancy Meyers has been given a reported $130 million budget for her return to the genre, and that Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Michael Fassbender, and Owen Wilson are forming an orderly queue for the Netflix movie.

Deadline reports that Meyers will write, direct and produce the romantic-comedy, which is currently going by the working-title of Paris Paramount.

According to Deadline’s sources the film centres on a talented young writer-director who falls in love with a producer, with the pair making several successful films before calling it quits romantically and professionally. The two are forced back together when a great new project arises, and they find themselves teaming up once again and having to deal with high stakes and volatile stars.

Meyers hasn’t directed a film since 2015’s Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway hit The Intern, which grossed just under $200 million worldwide. Prior to that she has been behind the camera on comedy blockbusters such as What Women Want ($375 million) and seasonal favourite The Holiday ($205 million).
