Gal Gadot talks Fast & Furious franchise return

June 19, 2023 by Gary Collinson

As Fast & Furious races towards the finish line – with 2025’s Fast X: Part 2 reportedly set to end the mainline series – the franchise has been bringing back a bunch of former Family members over the past few instalments, with the post-credits scenes of Fast X adding two more in Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar.

We already know that The Rock’s Hobbs will be headlining a new spinoff movie slated for release in 2024, and while Gisele’s status isn’t so clear right now, Wonder Woman star Gadot has been talking to Total Film about what prompted her return to the franchise.

“Fast was the first feature I’d ever done as an actress. They were the ones to give me my first opportunity, my first break in Hollywood. And I’m forever grateful for that. And they’re a community. They’re like family. We still keep in touch. They have a special place in my heart and it’s very exciting.”

Gadot stopped short of revealing any plans for Gisele, stating: “I wish I could say something. If I’m going to say something to you, somebody is going to jump into my room and tie my mouth.”

Similarly up in the air is Gadot’s DC status following the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 by DC Studios earlier this year. However, the star will soon be back in action in Netflix’s action-thriller Heart of Stone, which has just released its first trailer and is set to premiere on the streamer on August 11th.

Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved, and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.
