Harrison Ford says that Captain America: New World Order is a tough shoot

June 1, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

At 80 years young Harrison Ford is working as hard as ever, so while he promotes his final outing as Indiana Jones, the legendary actor has been revealing what it has been like shooting his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: New World Order.

During an interview with Esquire, in which he discusses everything from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, to his predilection for the f-word, Ford spoke about the role he inherited within the MCU following the sad passing of William Hurt, and how his current shooting schedule has its challenges.

In typical Harrison Ford fashion, when asked about whether filming his first Marvel movie – Captain America: New World Order – was fun, the actor replied “Uh….Yeah. I mean, there are tough days and easy days and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”

Hopefully he can muster up a bit more enthusiasm as production progresses, because it’s a role Ford will reprise for Marvel’s Thunderbolts, in which he will star alongside Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko.

Starring along with Harrison Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”).

Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, is once again composing the score.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in cinemas on June 30th, 2023.
