Deadline is reporting that Will Ferrell has dropped out of writer-director Sebastian Silva’s indie comedy Captain Dad, mere days before production was due to begin.
The project, which had been due to start production on September 26th, “chronicles an increasingly disastrous family vacation sailboat trip through the Caribbean” and has both Michael Cera and Catherine Keener attached to star.
Captain Dad had been sold to distributors at Cannes earlier this year as a Will Ferrell vehicle, and so the pressure is now on the producers to find a suitable replacement. Talks are said to be ongoing with an unspecified actor in the hope of meetings its planned start date.
