A Skibidi Toilet movie and TV franchise is coming from Michael Bay because of course it is…

July 25, 2024 by EJ Moreno

If you’ve spoken to anyone under 18 these days, you know what Skibidi Toilet is. You may not know what it means, but it’s become quite the meme in the Gen-Z/Gen-Alpha generation.

Now, Michael Bay and his production company will attempt to explain it with a film and television franchise. Variety announced the controversial internet sensation is now being developed into so much more by Bay and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman.

On the latest episode of Variety’s Strictly Business podcast, we learned a bit about the early development. “We are absolutely in talks right now, both on the television side and the earliest conversations right now on the film side,” Goodman said. “But it’s not a be-all, end-all for us.”

The Skibidi Toilet sensation began as YouTube videos and shorts created by Alexey Gerasimov and uploaded on his YouTube channel DaFuq!?Boom!. Back in February of 2023, the first 11-second video of a head emerging from a toilet singing was first uploaded. Later episodes would see the series become a war between toilets with a human head and cyborgs using cameras and televisions for heads.

It soon spawned into much more than that and became part of an entire generation’s pop culture vocabulary.

Later in the interview, the producers praised this strange meme extremely highly: “He’s building something that could be the next Transformers or could be a Marvel universe.”

Stay tuned for more news on whether this project spawns anything and if Skibidi Toilet can become the next cinematic universe. As the kids say, let’s hope they have the Skibidi rizz to do this (That pained this writer to type that).
