Fox shareholders should reject the deal put forward by Disney according to Comcast who also want to buy the company.
The drama surrounding the purported takeover of 21st Century Fox’s film and TV licences continues. We learned earlier that Comcast has launched a giant bid that dwarves Disney’s own for Fox’s assets, and now news is breaking that Comcast is actively urging Fox to reject Disney.
Fans were quite excited when news broke regarding the possible Disney deal, which would allow Fox characters like the X-Men to appear in the Disney owned Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s clear that Comcast has other ideas, however, as they too rather like the look of what’s on offer.
In hope of persuading Fox to their side of things, Comcast has issued a 43-page message aimed at Fox’s shareholders ahead of a vote on the deal on July 10th.
“We believe that a vote against the Disney merger agreement proposal will send a clear message to the 21CF board that you firmly believe the Comcast proposal is a superior proposal, that you do not want the proposed Disney transactions to be completed, and that the 21CF board should instead engage in good faith with Comcast to negotiate and execute definitive agreements with respect to the Comcast proposal,” via Deadline.
It’s certainly heating up and it will be fascinating to see just which way the folks at 21st Century Fox decide to go. Who are you rooting for? Disney or Comcast?
