Cyborg movie still happening, says Justice League’s Joe Morton

January 12, 2018 by Ricky Church

As Warner Bros. and DC continues to shake-up its leadership and future slate, one film that fans have been wondering about for quite some time is reportedly still in development according Justice League star Joe Morton, who played Victor Stone’s father Silas Stone. Cyborg has appeared on and off DC’s slate, first being a solo movie before the character was teased for The Flash’s solo film as a type of buddy story.

Speaking with ET, Morton said Cyborg should still be in development and spoke about what the film will be about. According to the actor, Cyborg will focus on the relationship between Victor Stone and his father Silas as well as Victor’s place in the world as not only a superhero, but a hybrid between man and machine.

“From what I understand, there will be a Cyborg movie,” Morton said. “It will be about him and I, and about the family that he came from, how he becomes the Cyborg, et cetera, But from whence he came, as well….I think it’s very exciting I think it’s exciting because there aren’t that many, if any, black superheroes, and in his case in particular, because there is no alias, because there is nothing for him to hide behind, and that he has to be who he is all the time. I think it’s a great kind of allegory for what it means to be black in this country.”

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher spoke a few months ago about the type of villains he’d like to see in the solo film. While we wait for news about a Cyborg film and whether or not it will actually happen, other DC films we have to look forward to are Aquaman, which comes out in December, and Shazam! and Suicide Squad 2 both beginning production sometime this year. Matt Reeves is also attached to direct The Batman while Patty Jenkins will return for Wonder Woman 2.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League reunites Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf.
