Deadpool 3 adds Succession star Matthew Macfadyen

March 29, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Succession is not only a place where great actors stretch their wings but also the launching pad for some hot new Hollywood careers. Actor Matthew Macfadyen will now head from Roy family drama to dealing with the Merc with a Mouth.

Deadline reports that Macfadyen will join Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3, adding to a supporting cast that also includes The Crown star Emma Corrin. At the time of writing, there’s no word on who Macfadyen will play.

Macfadyen plays Shiv Roy’s husband, Tom, on Succession; he is fresh off an Emmy and BAFTA win for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama. The latest season returned to massive ratings, proving he’s a big name heading into this Deadpool sequel. He’s currently filming Holland, Michigan with Nicole Kidman.

Deadpool 3 will star Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Emma Corrin. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are writing the film, and Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is on board as director. This upcoming third Deadpool entry marks the first under the Marvel Studios banner, with Kevin Feige producing what is also the MCU’s first R-rated film.

Deadpool 3 is currently set for release on November 8th, 2024.
