Happy Death Day’s Jessica Rothe joins Amazon’s Utopia

May 3, 2019 by Ricky Church

Amazon’s upcoming series Utopia has added another member to its growing cast with Deadline reporting that Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) is the latest to join the show.

Written by Gillian Flynn (Sharp Objects, Widows) and based upon the British TV series of the same name, Utopia “follows group of young adults who meet online and are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come in to possession of a near mythical cult underground graphic novel. They discover the conspiracy theories in the comic’s pages may actually be real and are forced in to the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.”

Rothe will portray Samantha, an “extremely idealistic, sharp-witted and a natural-born leader, Samantha earnestly believes in changing the world through action and scoffs at cheap rhetoric about progress. She could school any comic book nerd about the graphic novel Utopia and is embarking on a mission to uncover its secrets.”

Utopia also stars Sasha Lane (Hellboy), Rainn Wilson (Star Trek: Discovery), Dan Byrd (Cougar Town), Cory Michael Smith (Gotham) and John Cusack (2012).
