After helming the rather excellent ‘Blackwater’ in season two, British filmmaker Neil Marshall returns to the world of Game of Thrones as he takes on the director’s chair for the penultimate episode of the upcoming fourth season, which promises to deliver shocks to rival last season’s ‘The Rains of Castamere’. During a chat with FlicksAndTheCity, Marshall has spoken about the upcoming season, promising more Red Wedding-esque drama from the epic fantasy series.
“I wouldn’t doubt it,” says Marshall, whose feature film credits include Dog Soldiers, The Descent and Centurion. “I think that’s one of the key things of Game of Thrones, which is to take characters that you loved for three of four years and then butcher them brutally. Yeah, there’s a bit of drama and tragedy in my episode, so I’m sure there is for the rest of the season as well.”
Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the Spring.
