Kevin Spacey comments on Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman

Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder caused quite a stir when it was announced that Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me) had secured the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman.

We’ve already heard the thoughts of Clancy Brown, the long-time voice of Lex in DC’s various animated offerings, and now it’s the turn of Superman Returns star Kevin Spacey, who shared his opinion the casting during an interview with Empire Online

“First of all, I think [Jesse Eisenberg] is a remarkable actor. He’s just going to fucking own it. I think it’s a great idea and I wish him the best with it.”

So, short and sweet from Spacey, but do you agree with him? Let us know your comments below or head on over to The Flickering Myth Forum

Batman vs. Superman is set for release on May 6th, 2016 with a cast that also includes Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth).

After having my mind blown with MAN OF STEEL, I’m willing to give Snyder the benefit of the doubt on this one. Would Jesse have been my first pic? No, but that is a good thing. Just like Marc Webb gets my trust on ASM 2 & 3, after making hands down the greatest Spidey movie EVER…Zak Snyder gets the same respect after making hands down the greatest Superman movie EVER. I can’t wait

Ok Lambo it’s obvious your phaser is set to “boner” on everything that IS Zack Snyder.

Just so you know. MOS sucked and so did Amazing Spiderman

  • Fuck this movie. Jesse is no Lex an Ben is no Batman.

Personal I think he is an amazing choice, would never have thought of him but looking at his recent rolls it’s a great fit for a less cheesy believable, intelligent and twisted villain.
Ben A on the other hand will require me seeing to believe…. i just can’t see it though. Good luck to him as i want it to work to continue from what i do see as the best superman we have had.

They need to get Michael Rosenbaum’s opinion too…

Jesse is the exact opposite of Superman. I think thats why they choose him. Its a normal, average human with only his cunning, intelligence and shit ton of money ….. vs a god. I think it will be pretty cool to see Jesse go toe to toe with Superman, its a great contrast. I agree that it threw me for a loop at first but im willing to give it a shot. I mean MoS wasnt very good, but it wasnt horrible either. Ben as Batman… that took some time to get used to as well. I think he can pull it off as long as the direction is there. Everyone refers to Daredevil, which was horrible but Ben didnt have much of a choice with that character. the direction of the whole movie was shitty. Lets hope that Snyder can pull greatness out of his ass for this movie. I want it to be great. I want to be completely surprised at the end and have one of those “holy shit” moments. DC has a lot of work to do if they want to compete with Mavel on the big screen. Lets hope this makes them a contender.
