British comedian turned filmmaker Joe Cornish has signed on to direct Section 6, Universal’s upcoming spy thriller that delves into the creation of the British intelligence agency MI6 during the First World War.
Cornish made his directorial debut in 2011 with Attack the Block, and has also served as co-writer on The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and Ant-Man with Edgar Wright. Recently, he’d been mentioned amongst the candidates to helm Star Trek 3 after the departure of J.J. Abrams.
Section 6 has been written by Aaron Berg and is set to star Jack O’Connell, who can currently be seen in cinemas in 300: Rise of an Empire and Starred Up.
