Deadline reports that Sheldon Turner is to pen the script for Doug Liman’s (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Locke) attached to star in the lead role.
Turner’s previous work includes the remake of The Longest Yard but he did write Up In the Air so there is still hope. His other credits include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and X-Men: First Class. Turner has also written a script called Everest, which just so happens to have Liman directing and Tom Hardy starring.
It looks like Turner should get cracking on Splinter Cell, with filming due to start as early as August and a release date pencilled for the end of 2015.
