Avengers: Infinity War will feature 68, not 67, different characters

February 28, 2016 by Robert Kojder

Earlier this year, Anthony and Joe Russo made an off-the-cuff remark that Avengers: Infinity War would contain a whopping 67 characters. Well, it seems that they were off with their estimates… by one.

During a panel at Wizard World Comic-Con Cleveland, Joe and Anthony Russo took a moment to clarify that Avengers: Infinity War “features 68 distinct characters, not 67,” they joked.

More seriously, Joe Russo admits that the story can only focus on a handful of characters, saying “We have to tell a story and that story has to be built around the characters’ emotional arcs. And we can only have so many of those.”

Avengers: Infinity War – Part I is set for release on May 2nd 2018, followed by Avengers: Infinity War – Part II on May 3rd, 2019.
