Production on Maze Runner: The Death Cure shut down indefinitely due to Dylan O’Brien injury

April 30, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in March, actor Dylan O’Brien was hospitalised following an accident on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, with reports suggesting he had fractured bones in his face after suffering a fall.

Production was halted on the third instalment of the series to allow O’Brien time to recover, and was due to resume on May 9th. However, Deadline is reporting that the actor’s injuries are more serious than initially thought, and the decision has been made to suspend production indefinitely.

“The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries,” said Fox in a statement. “We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is currently slated for release on February 17th, 2017, although we should probably expect that date to be pushed back.
