Spider-Man: Homecoming casts Michael Barbieri

June 6, 2016 by Ricky Church

Spider-Man: Homecoming has cast young actor Michael Barbieri in an unknown role. This news makes it the first new official announcement since Robert Downey Jr. revealed he will appear in the new Spider-Man film and rumours of Michael Keaton’s negotiations.

While his role has not been stated yet, given his age it would be no surprise if he is playing someone at Peter Parker’s school or even Harry Osborn. Barbieri made his feature film debut earlier this year in Little Men and is set to star in the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower with Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Zendaya and now Barbieri in mystery roles. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Sony’s Amy Pascal will produce for a July 7, 2017 release date.
