Supergirl casts former Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter

June 22, 2016 by Ricky Church

Supergirl’s second season has just cast a DC veteran in the role of the President of the United States and it is rather, ahem, wonderful.

Lynda Carter, the Wonder Woman of the 1970s series based on the Amazon Princess, has been cast and will make her introduction in the third episode of the season before appearing in multiple episodes.

Executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti previously stated a few months ago they wanted to cast Carter as the President in the first season, but could not fit her in their schedule, especially as the second season was up in the air at the time. Now that Supergirl has been renewed, and is moving to The CW, they’re able to finally make that wish come true.

Carter won’t be the only DC veteran to appear in the series. Supergirl’s first season cast former Supergirl and Superman Helen Slater and Dean Cain as Kara’s parents while Laura Vandervoort, Smallville’s Supergirl, portrayed the villain Indigo. We’ll see next year if any other former DC actors can make cameos throughout the season.
