Toby Kebbell says Josh Trank’s original cut of Fantastic Four was great and admits that he doesn’t really play Doom in the movie

June 8, 2016 by Luke Owen

It’s been nearly a year since the catastrophe that was Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four and we’re still learning more about it. When the director officially denounced the movie via Twitter, he noted that he had a “great” version of the movie which “you’ll never see”, and now one of its stars has backed that up.

I tell you, the honest truth is [Trank] did cut a great film that you’ll never see”, Toby Kebbell told The Daily Beast. “That is a shame. A much darker version, and you’ll never see it.”

He also admitted that, for the majority of the movie, it’s someone else playing Doom as he wasn’t around the re-shoots that were rumoured to be directed by Simon Kinberg and Matthew Vaughn. “I played Doom in three points: walking down a corridor, killing the doctor and getting into the time machine, and lying on the bench,” he says. “They were the only times I played Doom. Everything else was some other guy, on some other day… doing some other thing. I was infuriated that he was allowed to limp like that!”

Kinberg still has hopes for Fantastic Four and wants to work again with the cast, but with Kate Mara calling Trank’s tweets disappointing, Kebbell’s comments above and Michael B. Jordan joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems rather unlikely.
