Michael Shannon says he fell asleep during Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

November 15, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During an interview with Fandango, actor Michael Shannon was asked for his thoughts on this year’s Man of Steel follow-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Unfortunately, he couldn’t really share his opinion on the movie, as he revealed that he actually fell asleep whilst watching it on a flight!

“People ask me about this all the time,” said Shannon, whose Man of Steel character General Zod makes a brief appearance as a corpse. “Okay, I’ll tell you the god’s honest truth. Zack [Snyder] is gonna kill me for this — he’s gonna kill me. I watched it once and I fell asleep. … I was on an international flight and I was tired. … I shouldn’t have been watching it on a plane. But I never go to the movies anymore! I don’t have time to see anything. I used to go to the movies all the time when I was 20 years old and wasn’t working 10 days a week.”

It’s a funny story, and one that critics of the DC Extended Universe are sure to enjoy, but in fairness Shannon is an insanely busy guy; IMDb has him listed as appearing in 10 movies this year, and he’s also got another six on his upcoming slate.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
