Joby Harold tasked with a page-one rewrite for The Flash

January 26, 2017 by Ricky Church

In yet another shake-up for the DC Extended Universe’s The Flash film, Variety is reporting Warner Bros. has hired King Arthur: Legend of the Sword scribe Joby Harold to do a page-one rewrite of the film. This means WB and DC Entertainment will no longer use the script penned previously by Seth Grahame-Smith and former director Rick Famuyiwa.

The Flash faced a delay after Famuyiwa left the project over what was reported to be ‘creative differences’. Ezra Miller’s schedule was also a factor as he’ll be very busy soon with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, giving WB a bit of extra time to find a new director and polish the script.

While this adds a new wrinkle to the film, its not necessarily a bad thing as WB and DC attempt to line the film up with their new vision now that Geoff Johns and Jon Berg are fully on board as producers for all upcoming DC films.

It was recently announced that Johns is working with David S. Goyer on the Green Lantern Corps film and is even developing a Black Adam solo film for Dwayne Johnson. As they continue to work on The Flash and where it fits within the DCEU, we’ll see if it will retain its 2018 release or find itself pushed back.

Dope‘s Kiersey Clemons is still attached to star as Iris West while Watchmen‘s Billy Crudup will portray Henry Allen, Flash’s father.
