Chiwetel Ejiofor rumoured to have been cast in Star Wars: Episode VII

November 3, 2013 by admin

It’s been a while since we’ve had anything in the way of casting rumours for Star Wars: Episode VII, but the folks at fan site Jedi News are reporting that British actor and Oscar hopeful Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity, 12 Years a Slave) has signed on for an as-yet-undisclosed role.

It seems the casting report stems from a preview of tomorrow’s The Times, which states that Ejiofor “is sitting in the lobby of J.J. Abrams’ office” in an article about the Episode VII director and his upcoming book S., so of course there is the chance that this report is little more than pure speculation. Jedi News has been dropping Star Wars “scoops” left, right and centre over the past couple of months, none of which have been confirmed yet, so it remains to be seen how accurate the site’s sources are, although this isn’t the first time that Ejiofor has been linked to Episode VII. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow when The Times’ full article arrives.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release in 2015 with Abrams currently reworking Michael Arndt’s (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3) script with Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi).
