Over the past week, information and pictures from David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel Gone Girl have appeared across the Internet and now the author has revealed the upcoming film has a totally different final act compared to the book. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she revealed:
“There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I’d spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie… Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it. He would say, ‘This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch.’”
Gone Girl stars Ben Affleck as Nick, who upon the disappearance of his wife on their fifth anniversary, is immediately the first suspect. He is joined in the cast by Rosamund Pike (The World’s End), Emily Ratajkowski (iCarly), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Tyler Perry (Madea Gets A Job), Missi Pyle (The Artist), Patrick Fugit (We Bought a Zoo) and Scoot McNairy (12 Years a Slave) and the film is set for release on October 3rd.
