George R.R. Martin releases an excerpt from The Winds of Winter

February 26, 2014 by admin

To promote next month’s update for Random House’s George R.R. Martin’s A World of Ice and Fire app, a brief excerpt – read single paragraph – from the The Winds of Winter, the sixth novel of Martin’s epic fantasy saga has arrived online, with a full chapter set to land with the app update. The chapter in question is from Tyrion’s point of view, and you can read it here courtesy of EW…

TYRION
Somewhere off in the far distance, a dying man was screaming for his mother. “To horse!” a man was yelling in Ghiscari, in the next camp to the north of the Second Sons. “To horse! To horse!” High and shrill, his voice carried a long way in the morning air, far beyond his own encampment. Tyrion knew just enough Ghiscari to understand the words, but the fear in his voice would have been plain in any tongue. I know how he feels.

George R.R. Martin’s A World of Ice and Fire is available on iTunes and Google Play, while Game of Thrones returns to HBO for its fourth season on April 6th, and The Winds of Winter will hit shelves when King’s Landing freezes over.
