Live-action Static Shock series in development at Warner Bros.

October 21, 2014 by Gary Collinson

If the influx of TV shows and Warner Bros.’ big movie announcements aren’t enough to put a smile on DC fans’ faces, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros.’ new digital division Blue Ribbon Content has tapped Reginald Hudlin (Django Unchained) to develop a live-action Static Shock. The project is based upon the DC / Milestone Comics character Static, the teen superhero created by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L. Washington III and John Paul Leon.

In addition to Static Shock, Blue Ribbon also has Bruce Timm’s animated series Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles on its slate, along with an as-yet-untitled Mortal Kombat series to coincide with the upcoming Mortal Kombat X video game, the Veronica Mars spin-off Play It Again, Dick, a Critters series, and Batman: The Animated Series Experience, an “interactive narrative experience which will give fans the opportunity to explore Batman’s world like never before.”

Are you excited about Static joining the growing list of DC superheroes on the screen?
