New Star Wars novel entitled Journey to Episode VII: The Fall of the Empire/The Rise of the Rebellion

November 14, 2014 by Gavin Logan

News started to filter around various corners of the internet yesterday about the inevitable series of new Star Wars books due for releases in the next year or so. While some of them are centred around Star Wars: Rebels and also kids activity books there was one title in particular that stood out from the rest that seems to be a prelude to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Journey to Episode VII: The Fall of the Empire/The Rise of the Rebellion is due out September 2015 and is being described as a young-adult novel. Although not 100% confirmed MakingStarWars.net are reporting that Claudia Gray –  the New York Times best selling author of the Evernight series and lifelong Star Wars fan – has scribed it. Check out the synopsis summary below:

Star Wars meets Romeo and Juliet in this epic YA novel that follows two best friends who find themselves on opposite sides of the war between the Empire and the Rebellion.

This thrilling YA novel gives viewers a macro view of some of the most important events in the Star Wars universe; from the purge of the Jedi in Episode III, to the beginnings of the Rebellion in Star Wars: Rebels, through to the fall of the Empire in Episode IV-VI. Readers will experience these major moments through the eyes of two best friends who grow up in these troubling times.

As with other Journey to Episode VII titles, hints about the upcoming film will be included in the narrative as well as original post Episode VI content that sets up the new film.
