Winter Is Coming – Are You Ready for a New Season of Game of Thrones?

January 20, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Game of Thrones is one of the most successful television series out and has had audiences hooked since 2011. The popular fantasy drama is based on a book series by the American writer George R. R. Martin and this spring sees the show return for its fifth season.

If you prefer watching the show or reading the novels, would you class yourself as a die-hard Game of Thrones fan? Do you know who Selyse Florent is and who is seeking the three-eyed raven? Which cities has Daenerys saved from slavery and what did Tommen call his adorable pet cat?

The show has created its very own cult of fanatics, with a whole host of online blogs and websites dedicated to devotees battling it out over their knowledge. But do you think you’ve got what it takes to compete with the most enthusiastic Game of Thrones fans out there? Well 32Red Casino are on the hunt for the biggest GoT geek out there with their ultimate quiz at http://www.32red.com/quiz/game-of-thrones.html, offering the winner the chance to visit one of the stunning filming locations.

As the diehard fans of the show will be well aware, know that season 4 ended with many beloved characters facing a very uncertain fate, but what will happen to them when the next batch of episodes hit our screens?

Tyrion Lannister

It’s not easy being Tyrion. Blamed by his father and his sister for the death of his mother since he was born, he has always been despised by everyone in his family, apart from his brother Jaime. Now blamed for the death of Joffrey and forsaken by his lover Shae, his life has reached a new low. Jaime finally decides to free his brother the night before his execution. Before leaving King’s Landing however, Tyrion sneaks into his father’s bedchamber, strangles Shae and shoots his father through the heart with a crossbow. He then hides on a boat to leave King’s Landing. Lord Varys, who has assisted Tyrion’s escape, decides to leave the capital with Tyrion. What will become of this unlikely duo? And what will become of the Lannisters now that Tywin is dead?

Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys has freed city after city from slavery, however, at the end of season 4 she is faced with the facts that some people prefer living in slavery and that one of her beloved dragons has killed a child. She locks up her remaining dragons in the catacombs, but their shrieks and cries are heart-breaking. How will she handle a potential recurrence of the slavery she had hoped to erase, and will she learn how to control her dragons Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion?

Sansa Stark

Petyr Baelish, aka Littlefinger, has Sansa smuggled out of King’s Landing and brings her to her Aunt Lysa. Lysa is insanely jealous of Sansa and when she threatens her, Petyr reveals that he’s always been in love with Sansa’s mother before throwing Lysa through the Moon Door to her death. Sansa is questioned about the incident and lies for Baelish, saying that Lysa jumped to her death by her own choice. How is the relationship between Lord Baelish and Sansa going to develop? Is Lysa’s son going to seek revenge? Will Sansa meet her husband Tyrion again?

Fans can’t wait for the start of season 5 to see how their favourite characters will handle the hardships thrown their way.
