Cult teen horror The Craft eyed for remake

May 14, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

News is spreading that cult teen horror film The Craft is set to get the remake treatment by Sony.

Horror director Leigh Janiak is set to direct the new version of the film as well as co-write with her Honeymoon co-writer Phil Graziadei. The remake would also see original producer Douglas Wick on board alongside fellow producer Lucy Fisher.

The original film, released in 1996 from director Andrew Fleming, has gathered a huge cult following over the years, and helped set the trend for other female-led supernatural projects such as Charmed and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show. Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk and Rachel True starred in the original as a group of teenage wannabe witches who use their powers for good at first, before the dark magic becomes sinister.

What do you think to the news of the new version? Is a remake good idea? As ever leave us your thoughts in the comments section below….
