Kate Beckinsale to star in Underworld 5

May 15, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

The Hollywood Reporter has broke the news that Kate Beckinsale is to don the leather and corset once more to star in the fifth film in the Underworld franchise.

Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment are the makers behind the series, with the fifth film seeing the return of Beckinsale as Selene, the vampire death dealer caught in the midst of a long-standing war between vampires and Lycans. Anna Foerster, director of photography on White House Down, is set to direct the new instalment.

Insurgent star Theo James has previously been announced to return. No news yet as to when the film will be released or start shooting.

Underworld was released in 2003, followed by Underworld: Evolution in 2006, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans in 2009 and, most recently, Underworld: Awakening in 2012. All four films have grossed over $458 million at the worldwide box office.
