The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies gets R-rating for extended theatrical release

After news earlier in the week about theatrical re-releases for Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy in their extended forms, word has now broken that the new version of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has been given an R-rating by the MPAA, due to “some violence”.

The Hobbit will be shown in selected cinemas across three nights in October, while the extended version of The Battle of the Five Armies is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray on November 3rd in the US.
