Amazon Studios has acquired the North American distribution rights to the as-yet-untitled new film from Woody Allen.
“Like all beginning relationships, there is much hope, mutual affection and genuine goodwill — the lawsuits come later,” said Allen, with Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios adding, “Woody Allen is a brilliant filmmaker. We’re so proud to be in business with him for both his next film and his first-ever TV series.”
A romantic comedy set in the 1930s, the film features a cast that includes Jeannie Berlin, Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll and Ken Stott.
Amazon has snapped up both the theatrical and streaming rights to the film, and will release the film into North American cinemas this summer, before making it exclusively available to Amazon Prime members.
