Harrison Ford discusses the fate of Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

March 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Warning: Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens follow…

Unless you’ve been living out on Dagobah since December, I’m sure you’re well aware that Harrison Ford finally got his pre-Return of the Jedi wish this December, with his beloved character Han Solo being killed off in Star Wars: The Force Awakens after his climactic confrontation with his son Ben Solo, a.k.a. Kylo Ren.

For the first time since the film’s release, Ford has addressed his thoughts on Han’s passing during a Tumblr Q&A, stating that:

“I think it’s a fitting use of the character,. “I’ve been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he’s boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight.”
